തിരുവനന്തപുരം: അനധികൃത സ്വത്തു സമ്പാദനക്കേസില്‍ മുന്‍ ഡിജിപി ടോമിന്‍ ജെ തച്ചങ്കരിയെ ശിക്ഷിച്ച നടപടിയെ സ്വാഗതം ചെയ്ത് മുന്‍ പൊലീസ് മേധാവി ടി പി സെന്‍കുമാര്‍. പലനാള്‍ കള്ളന്‍ ഒരു നാള്‍ പിടിയില്‍. 31 വര്‍ഷം കേസുകളുമായി നടന്ന ബോബി കുരുവിളക്ക് അഭിനന്ദനങ്ങള്‍. സെന്‍കുമാര്‍ ഫെയ്‌സ്ബുക്കില്‍ കുറിച്ചു.

പൊലീസ് യൂണിഫോം ധരിച്ച ക്രിമിനലായിരുന്നു തച്ചങ്കരി. ഔദ്യോഗിക പദവിയിലിരിക്കുമ്പോഴുള്ള അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പെരുമാറ്റം അതീവ ആശങ്കാജനകമായിരുന്നു. സുപ്രീംകോടതി ഉത്തരവിനെത്തുടര്‍ന്ന് താന്‍ സംസ്ഥാന പൊലീസ് മേധാവിയായി ചുമതലയേല്‍ക്കുന്നതിന് തൊട്ടു തലേന്നാണ്, പൊലീസ് ഹെഡ് ക്വാര്‍ട്ടേഴ്‌സിന്റെ ചുമതലയുള്ള എഡിജിപിയായി തച്ചങ്കരിയെ സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ നിയമിക്കുന്നത്.

തുടര്‍ന്ന് തനിക്കെതിരെയും കേസുകള്‍ രജിസ്റ്റര്‍ ചെയ്യപ്പെട്ടു. തന്റെ ഔദ്യോഗിക നടപടികളും അന്നത്തെ സാഹചര്യങ്ങളുമാണ് ഇതിന് കാരണമെന്നാണ് വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നത്. അധികാരസ്ഥാനങ്ങള്‍ ആരെയും ഉത്തരവാദിത്തത്തിന് മുകളിലാക്കുന്നില്ലെന്നും, ഔദ്യോഗിക പദവിയുടെ മറവില്‍ ചെയ്യുന്ന കാര്യങ്ങള്‍ നിയമത്തിനു മുന്നില്‍ പരിശോധിക്കപ്പെടുമെന്നും കോടതി വിധി ഓര്‍മ്മിപ്പിക്കുന്നുവെന്നും സെന്‍കുമാര്‍ ഫെയ്‌സ്ബുക്കില്‍ കുറിച്ചു.

A Judgment That Brings Closure.

Today’s sentence in the case involving Tomin Thachankary marks an important moment.

From my experience, He was a criminal in uniform & his conduct while serving in uniform was deeply troubling. On the day before I was to take charge as SPC, he was posted as ADGP (HQ), following the Supreme Court’s order.

Subsequently, cases were initiated against me, which I have always maintained were motivated by my professional actions and circumstances at the time.

Even Mr. Anil was made to face proceedings, in my view, simply because of his association and professional work with me.

For those of us who experienced that period, today’s judgment is significant. It is a reminder that positions of authority do not place anyone beyond accountability, and that actions taken under the colour of office must ultimately stand scrutiny before the law.

I regard today’s outcome as a deserving judgment and, above all, as a measure of accountability.
